Anonymous public practice
The public training and public MCP endpoint do not require an account. They store only generated exercises, answer choices, correctness, difficulty, a random 256-bit session token and expiry. The token grants access to that temporary set: anyone you share it with can resume the set. It is not an account password. Anonymous sets expire one hour after creation; expired records are removed when the next set starts. They are stored separately from account-linked sessions.
Account-linked practice
The service uses a site-scoped account identifier provided by ChatGPT Sites to keep your exercises separate from other users. An account-linked practice session contains generated questions, selected answer indices, correctness, difficulty, a random session ID and a last-activity timestamp. We do not request your name, email, uploaded files or full ChatGPT conversation. ChatGPT sends the structured tool inputs needed for the action you request.
Request limits
To protect availability, we keep short-lived operational counters: a shared counter for new public sets and a counter keyed by a hash of each existing anonymous session token. They count requests in one-minute windows. Counter records become eligible for deletion after at most two minutes and are removed during the next limiter cleanup. We do not store IP addresses for these limits. These counters are required for service protection and are separate from optional usage analytics.
Optional usage counts
The checkbox “Share anonymous practice counts” is off by default. If enabled before starting a set, we add to aggregate daily counts of started sets, completed sets and sets started through Try again, grouped by difficulty. These counters contain no account IDs, session IDs, IP addresses, question content or exact timestamps. They are not counts of distinct or returning people. Leave the checkbox unchecked for future sets to opt out. Counts already combined into an aggregate cannot be traced back to you.
Storage and retention
Practice data is stored in the database provided with OpenAI Sites. Account-linked sessions stop being accessible after one hour without activity. Anonymous public sets expire one hour after creation. Expired records are deleted during cleanup when a new practice starts; physical deletion may therefore occur later than expiry. Aggregate usage counts are retained to compare product usage over time. We do not sell personal data, use advertising trackers or send practice data to a separate analytics provider.
Your choices
You can use the practice without sharing optional counts. Browser session storage holds only the session ID needed to resume the current set. In ChatGPT, the host may retain widget state and tool results in your conversation. To request deletion of app-held practice data or ask a privacy question, contact us; do not send passwords or access tokens. OpenAI separately controls ChatGPT conversations, authentication and platform logs under its own privacy policy. Deleting app-held data does not delete your ChatGPT conversation.
Providers and changes
OpenAI Sites and its hosting infrastructure process data to operate this service. Their processing and retention may differ from the application records described here. See OpenAI’s privacy policy. We will update this page if the service’s data practices change.
